A popular Catholic devotion during the Holy Season Lent is to pray The Stations of the Cross. This devotion recalls Jesus’ last day on earth as a man by focusing on 14 specific events of that day. Several years ago, I asked the Lay Franciscan group from OLA to lead the praying of The Stations because of the fact that it was the Franciscans that popularized this devotion beginning in the 1600’s. Deacon Mark will be leading the service. During the Season of Lent, The Stations will be prayed at 7:00 PM in the church on each Friday. Along with the prayers and music this devotion is an excellent way for each of us to focus upon the love that God has for us, and for our personal need of conversion and penance during this Season. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
