Coding

The students of OLA have a profound interest in coding. To support and enhance student growth in technology, two clubs were formed. The CODING CLUB is facilitated by the Coding Club at Saint Ignatius High School. The club is run remotely and each week students learn JAVA coding through webcam instruction. Students compete for a prize at the end of each session by answering questions and solving a coding puzzle. The GIRLS WHO CODE Club presents girls with an opportunity to meet and collaborate by coding with activities provided by Google’s CS First Curriculum. Each meeting the girls complete coding activities with a theme such as fashion design, art, and friends, to name just a few. These themes introduce the girls to core computer science concepts. Both clubs allow students hands-on experience to learn more about this fast-growing field in technology.
